A Proven Leader for the People...
As a fourth-generation Oregonian, Charlie Conrad has always prioritized Oregonians over party. Charlie's dad was a career army veteran, and Charlie grew up on bases throughout the world, learning the values of discipline and service, as well as respecting people from all cultures and walks of life.

To Charlie, his priorities have always been people, country, and then party. He was born in Corvallis, attended Oregon State University (earning a BS in Wildlife Management), and received a master's in Public Administration from the University of Colorado.

While in the legislature, Charlie used his 25 years of public service experience, including 15 years in law enforcement, to advocate for stricter accountability for criminals and effective post-prison programs to prevent their re-entry into prison. His time as the League of Oregon Cities’ research coordinator reinforced the idea that all politics is local and that statewide legislation should enable communities to maintain their identity by making decisions locally.

While working for Lane County Parks and the Lane Events Center, he worked with communities to effectively respond to natural disasters, like wildfires, and continues to help communities still recovering. His ongoing focus is to improve Oregon’s emergency preparedness and recovery systems and processes to minimize the devastating impact of disasters on rural and smaller communities.
In 2022, he ran and won the House District 12 (eastern Lane County) Republican nomination, going on to win the general election by 15 points.

In his first session, Charlie continued to prioritize people and support their ability to make critical decisions in their own lives. He was subsequently the only Republican to vote for legislation protecting Oregonians from government interference in personal healthcare decisions, including reproductive rights and death with dignity. He believes the government has no place dictating what decisions people make with their doctor, and he voted to reflect that principle.

Since then, Charlie has founded Common Ground - United We Stand, a non-partisan nonprofit that advocates for civic engagement and system reforms, enabling people to vote for candidates they believe will best represent their interests. Charlie understands that the best legislation and pragmatic policy solutions are created through cooperation, collaboration, and compromise.
